Despite the building speculation of the past decades, numerous examples of Liberty architecture have escaped destruction. Each one contains unsuspected events and anecdotes. At the beginning of the XXth century, the urban expansion of Verona outside the historic walls did not concern only the working areas of Borgo Venezia and Borgo Roma: the so-called Campagnola north of the Adige river became the first of the ‘900 a garden city where the new luxury villas of the Verona’s rich people, largely of Jewish origin. In the area were also built the Verona – Caprino – Garda railway station and the new Alessandri hospital. Despite the building speculation of the past decades, numerous examples of Liberty architecture are nowadays surviving. And each contains unsuspected events and anecdotes.
